November 7th and 8th the New Zealand Cake Decorators guild will be holding there national conference here in Whangarei (it alternates each year between North Island & South Island and is held every November). This is the first time Whangarei has hosted the conference.
Some parts of conference are open to everyone. If you're interested in cake decorating, and can make it to Whangarei. Come on down to "The Old Library" in Rust Avenue. For just $3 entry you'll be able to take advantage of the cake decorating traders from around NZ. Kiwicakes will of course be there. And we've got some mind blowing bargains all lined up for you to take advantage of.
You'll be able to view the competition entries from national cake decorators for the sugar flower competition which is a Magnolia. You'll also view competition plaques from clubs around the country (sugar craft plaques that groups of members have worked on and submitted as a team). There's also lots of display (non competition) cakes.
You'll also be able to purchase a raffle ticket for some great cakes. And if you're interested in joining a cake club (in any region) there will be people available to talk to you about this.
I belong to the Whangarei Cake Guild and I've visited many other guilds/clubs around the country - I can say without a doubt, it's the best money you'll ever spend on your cake decorating (to join Whangarei is just $45 per year and this includes the national magazine being posted out to you)
Check out the map below of the old library above to find Kiwicakes, you simply need to enter the front door and take a left to the "Off The Cuff " room (at right of photo). Where you'll find us along with the team from GoBake. Trish from Gobake has amazing demos lined up all day Saturday & Sunday &; she tells me she has some lovely taste tests lined up. We're taking an enormous selection of goodies from Kiwicakes and did I mention we've got some mind blowing bargains! (I'll be listing some of these on facebook closer to the time)
