Southern-Style Green Beans
by Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 1½ hours
Yield: 6-8 servings
Ingredients
- 6 slices bacon, diced
- 2 lb. green beans, ends snapped off and long beans snapped in half
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups water
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp. seasoned salt
- ½ tsp. pepper
Instructions
1. In a large pot, brown and crisp bacon. Remove bacon to paper towels leaving the bacon grease in the pot.
2. Add remaining ingredients to pot. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium-low and continue to simmer for 1-1½ hours, stirring occasionally.
3. Drain beans. Check for seasoning and adjust if necessary. Stir in bacon.
