Have you visited a Cracker Barrel recently? From the fresh-made food, fun atmosphere, and the Old Country Store - now is a great time to go! My family enjoys going there for an occasional Sunday breakfast or more often, as a weeknight when mom (aka me!) doesn't have to cook!

We love how Cracker Barrel reminds us of meals at grandma's house and of course, no trip to Cracker Barrel is complete without a stop to look around the Old Country Store! I love finding candy from my childhood that I can't find anywhere else! While my kiddos are checking out the toys, playing checkers out front, or rocking in the rockers on the porch, I get the chance to check out the large assortment of products in the candy section, the seasonal stuff and the clearance section - and I almost always find too many things that I want!

As crazy as it sounds, it's often difficult for our family of 6 to be seated quickly at any restaurant without having to wait for a table. We actually dread eating out for that reason. The wait time for a table was even worse when Elijah was still at home. In our experience, most restaurants are not "large family friendly" in the seating department since they usually have sooooo many booths which are perfect for small families (4 people or less) or a couple - if you have a large family, then you know exactly what I'm talking about! It seems like most restaurants only have a few tables that can accommodate 6 or more people. At Cracker Barrel, we always feel welcome with our large family. Cracker Barrel's family-friendly atmosphere feels like it's easy enough to pull up a chair and join in at the dinner table - and I for one, love that! From games of checkers or the wooden peg games on the table to rocking chairs out front, does any restaurant welcome you to come visit and stay for a while more than Cracker Barrel?

Cracker Barrel's food reminds me of meals at my grandma's house. The fresh-made food feels like my grandma was in the kitchen and made the meal herself! I love the entire menu from breakfast through dinner - and I honestly could not pick a favorite plate. The hardest part for me every single time we visit is trying to narrow down "what sounds good" - because truthfully, it all does!

Even the side dishes are hard to narrow down, but one of my favorite items on the Cracker Barrel menu is Fried Apples. I mean, what is not to love about fried apples in a sweet, cinnamony sauce?! They make a great addition to any meal and for me, they remind me of my childhood when my cousins and I would go pick apples in my grandparent's orchard! We had plenty of apples to eat out of hand - not to mention, my grandma could use them to make homemade applesauce, apple pie - or fried apples!

Now that I have a family of my own, I enjoy sharing and passing on family recipes with my kiddos and you - my readers! You will love my version of Fried Apples with your Sunday breakfast of pancakes - or throughout the week with yogurt and granola.... Or as a side dish for pork chops ... or just spooned over your ice cream after dinner. I won't call this Fried Apple recipe a copycat recipe because it doesn't taste exactly like Cracker Barrel's famous Fried Apples, but they are delicious in their own right and since they're quick and easy to make, really, you can enjoy them anytime you can't get to your local Cracker Barrel to enjoy them!

Cracker Barrel’s Retail Store is a must-stop shop for me on our way out! I love finding unique gifts and things I can use in my own home! On a recent visit, Abby spotted princess dresses and wanted ALL of them ... I have a feeling I know what she'll be getting for her birthday! Only one, though! The clearance section is always a favorite for me - I've snagged up some pretty awesome stuff from there!

Now, about that recipe .......
